My work is developing gradually without being forced. I work with
Cornish stoneware clay using hand building and wheel thrown techniques.
I prefer a stoneware ceramic body decorated with a simple personal
palette of handmade glazes of blue, white and black. My work is finished
off with a high gloss surface with mark making taking the eye around
the piece. The form is functional, organic, and abstract, employing
heightened symmetry and tension.
I experiment with the language of Abstract Expressionism as I enjoy
lines of industrial and mechanical design. Individual pieces can be
added-to and re-assembled to make a collection. I enjoy amassing and
assembling work pieces, uncommon pieces with a lively, instinctive
and robust substance.
