Carole is both a painter and a sculptor working in concrete and her use of natural colour and texture in creating her concrete sculptures has had remarkable success. Her large-scale commissions are nationally and internationally renowned and include The Blue Circle Garden which won a medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2001. A guided tour of her splendid and extensive gardens and beautifully renovated home with her fabulous, colourful sculptures and paintings preceded a demonstration in her studio of how she mixes the concrete and pigments – with precision and a Kenwood Cake Mixer! After setting in a mould the hard work really begins – polishing, grinding and finishing (usually by hand) to create a work of art that is smooth and pleasing to both eye and to touch.
