Leo Hallissey trained as an Architect
in London and worked for 26 years on schemes mainly in the Inner London
Area.
Pottery found him in 1990 and he began throwing traditional pots,
initially striving for perfection but later developing an interest
in the marks and changes energy imparts on clay.
Various courses in ceramics at Cornwall College between 1998 and
2002 (where he gained a distinction at HNC) brought him in contact
with students and tutors exploring the diverse world of ceramics.
Many are still in regular contact.
The work Leo does is often experimental but he still feels restrained
and in control, although a little schizophrenic at times. He works
in his St Ives studio.
Leo joined Creftow artists co-operative in 2002 and shows some of
his work at the Gallery in Helston.
Exhibition venues include Morley College in London, Morvah Gallery
here in Cornwall and at his home in St Ives.
