Using found forms natural to Cornwall’s beaches, Claire creates distinct waveform slabs, imprinted with textures and pebble traces. Designed to be hung on the wall or placed as open vessels on a flat surface, the Sea Slabs series is aesthetic and functional. This series also includes a range of cylindrical and rectangular forms. Each piece is individually made with local stoneware clay, glazed and fired in a gas kiln.

Claire’s inspiration is drawn from the calming and yet uplifting atmosphere evoked by the constant movement of the water on the lands’ edge. The moods created by the inter-relationship of the weather, water and land, feeds Claire’s enthusiasm to collect and capture the textures and patterns of the shoreline.
